On Saturday, 30th September, All Saints had a presence at the Congleton Green Fayre. Our stall hosted a recycling game, The participants randomly selected an item from a closed box and had to decide in which of the 3 Cheshire East bins the item should be placed. If they were correct we played a triangle, and they won a chocolate wrapped in recyclable paper. If they were incorrect, we inverted a groan tube, Peter was hoping to use an emergency horn, but it was way too scary!!! We also had a board showing what we are doing as a parish in response to the Climate Crisis and a Tear Fund “Rubbish Bin-Go” challenge for people to complete at home.
We had great fun until the rain took hold and we learnt some new recycling facts, e.g. Do you know what to do with plastic bottle tops?
Answer, if you can squish the lid, it can be recycled in a Cheshire East silver bin.
Or how much rubbish goes to landfill in Cheshire East?
Answer, virtually nil. All black bin waste is burnt and the energy from the burning process is converted into electricity.
You will probably remember the 3 Rs, well now there are 7!
Redesign, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Renew, Recover and Recycle.
